Our Story
It all began in a small workshop at the back of a (let's just say 'large online') bike shop whilst reminiscing over bike shops of the past, that had all the latest products on display, where the staff knew your name and had all the answers to your tech queries. The latest bike DVD (let's be honest, it was on VHS probably!) with swear words included would be playing on a TV in the corner and not all the magazines in the toilets just had bike porn in them!
We felt the local scene was missing something... a place with small shop vibes, cool products from smaller independent brands and actual after sales support. Not just new bikes but proper repair work, tuning advice, suspension servicing and custom builds!
Feeling inspired we moved into our Lisburn Road premises and fit it out in a rustic style on a shoestring budget, but it had character. Mech Monkey 1.0 was pretty much a workshop with a showroom in the corner, which is an unusual approach for a bike shop but at that stage we focused on quality repair work and upgrades.
As workshop demand increased so did the stock of spare parts, soon came bikes and clothing. After a few years the crew moved to the current bigger premises. Fitted out in a similar style with more room to display our growing range of bikes and gear.
Now boasting a host of bike and apparel brands like Transition, Santa Cruz, 100%, Burgtec and Fast House. We are also fully stocked with everything required for maintaining and servicing bikes, their components and building full custom bike builds.

Workshop:
The workshop lies at the core of Mech Monkey. We have always believed that building and servicing a bike will give you a great insight into how well its designed and will hold up in the long term. Bike mechanics make the most knowledgeable and honest sales people!
We've dedicated a large amount of our shop's space to the workshop, each mechanic has a dedicated workstation with their own quality tools and computer terminal so we can work effectively and efficiently to get your pride and joy back up and running to the highest standard, as soon as possible.
We handle your bike as though it's our own, there are no bikes leaning on bikes, leaning on other bikes here at Mech Monkey! All our storage hooks are well spaced out, E-bikes are stored on 2 wheels and we have parts bins for all your shocks, forks and other small parts. We can guarantee your bike is in safe hands while it's in for repair.
We keep a broad range of spares in store so our Cytech trained technicians can repair and maintain bikes from any brand, discipline and spec level. No job is too big or too small, from puncture repairs to full rebuilds.
Suspension Servicing and Tuning:
We have a dedicated suspension service area of the workshop; this ensures no cross contamination of foreign debris or oils getting into delicate components. Fully loaded with all the specialist tools and a wide range of spare parts and seal kits, we are fit to service and repair forks, rear shocks and dropper posts from Fox and Rockshox amongst others.
A post-in service is available, just get in touch with your requirements before shipping your parts or include a cover note with your contact details and what work you would like carried out.
Wheel building:
Bespoke wheel builds are carried out in our workshop using only top quality spokes from DT Swiss and Sapim. We can replace broken rims or hubs in your current wheels or help you choose a custom set. Just let us know your riding conditions, bike specs, colour preferences and budget and we can do the rest.
